Abia Warriors Defender Adeleke Adekunle failed to make his much anticipated debut for Nigeria during the AFCON qualifying matches against Benin Republic and Lesotho, but insists he didn’t feel any disappointment.
Adekunle was one of three home based players invited by coach Gernot Rohr for the final two Afcon qualifiers.
The Defender watched both matches from the bench as Rohr opted for his preferred partnership of William Troost-Ekong and Leon Balogun.
In a chat with BRL after the game against Lesotho, Adekunle said he respects the Coach’s decision, but, he’ll continue to work hard so more opportunities could come for him in the Super Eagles.
“I feel very happy to be part of the squad, and grateful to God. It’s part of football, not making a debut today ( Tuesday) was the coach’s decision and I have to respect that.
“I’m happy to be part of the team regardless and I believe my time will come,” He told BRL.
