Midfielder Frank Onyeka is excited to be part of Nigerian squad to upcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
The Brentford Town of England midfielder was included in Super Eagles final 28-man squad to the tournament.
The Nations Cup would be his first major tournament for Nigeria, despite bursting to the scene with Midtjylland in 2019, before switching to Premier League Brentford last summer.
He acknowledged that it is a huge privilege going to AFCON for the first time and expressed optimism that he will be able to get a good end to it on a personal level and collectively with his teammates.
Onyeka enthused: “It is my first time representing my country in the Africa Cup of Nations. So, I’m looking forward to it. I’m excited to represent my country.” He told the reporters.
Onyeka received his first call-up for the Nigeria national team on 22 September 2020 for the friendly matches against Algeria and Tunisia in Austria.
He made his debut with the Nigeria national team in a friendly 1–0 loss to Algeria on 9 October 2020
This season, Onyeka has featured in 17 Premier League matches for Brentford and scored one goal.
