AFN’s leadership crisis will be bad for Athletics in Nigeria – Ikhabomen

Former junior national Athletics coach Isaac Ikhabomen has stated that the current leadership crisis rocking the governance of  Track and Field in Nigeria has already affected the sport and that the latest twist following a court judgment which ruled in favour of Gusau has successfully created further confusion.

Ikhabomen speaking in a chat with www.brila.net said the situation of things at the moment will not help the sports as athletes and coaches will now be thrown into disarray as to know who to answer to and where to go when camping is called.
He added that he hopes that this can be sorted very soon for the sale of the sport.
“Having two factions who do we follow, who are we going to follow, who do we know is the right person. Already it has affected track and field, it has affected it. There was a competition in Benin, there was a competition in Ondo state athletes and coaches didn’t know where to go because the real board is not known.
“It will affect, if Olympic was to come up this year, honestly it would have been a tragedy for track and field which is not good for sports.
