D’Tigress forward Evelyn Akhator has expressed delight at Nigeria’s triumph at the just concluded 2019 FIBA women’s Afrobasket after beating host nation Senegal 60-55 in the final of the tournament Sunday evening in Dakar.
Akhator who weighed in with 14 points in the final to emerge as the game top points scorer told www.brila.net that it was a big win for Nigeria who had to contend with the 15,000 Senegalese fans apart from the Senegalese players on court. She added that the team earned the win in a very hard way and can’t but enjoy the triumph at the end of the game.
“Honestly I’m so excited, I’m so happy we won the tournament you know it’s not easy playing against the crowd, the players, the referee and every one right here in Senegal. We just kept our pulse, we knew we were going to win but we also knew it wasn’t going to be easy. We played against everyone and you know that is the best win of all.”
