Defender Ola Aina praised Trevor Chalobah for fighting his way from the academy to Chelsea main team.
Aina, a product of Chelsea famous academy with Chalobah, but had to go on loans several for his development, before eventually quitting the club for Torino in 2019.
While Chalobah has become a key figure in the first team, since making his debut August 2021.
The defender on Friday signed a new long term deal with the Blues, a reward for his excellent performances.
In a chat with Alex Goldberg, Aina said, he’s happy with Chalobah’s development at the Club.
“I’m super happy for him. I messaged him and I think it was after his eighth start, I was like: ‘you’re doing really well bro. Playing alongside Thiago and this. And you’re not just there, you are putting in good performances.
“Proper buzzing for him. And he was just like: ‘yeah just got to keep it going, got to keep my head down’. He always says that to me. It’s good to hear because he deserves it, he works hard.
“The things that he does off the pitch as well people don’t really see, so I’m always happy for him.”
Aina is currently recovering from the injury that kept him out of Torino’s last three games before the World Cup break.
He’s expected to be back in the squad in January 2023.
