Aina, Maja fail to keep Fulham in the premier league

Ola Aina watched from the bench as Fulham suffered a 2-0 defeat to visitors Burnley at the Craven Cottage on Monday.

Aina was part of the few changes made by coach Scott Parker to the side that lost to Chelsea.

While Aina was benched, Ademola Lookman and Tosin Adarabioyo started the match and Josh Maja came on as a substitute in the second half.

Fulham needed four wins from their final four games to have any chance of avoiding the drop but a defeat to the Clarets confirmed their immediate return to the championship.

Ashley Westwood scored the opener on the stroke of halftime before Chris Wood sealed the win with his 50th goal for Burnley.

The win secured Burnley’s premier status for another season, while Fulham joined Sheffield United and West Bromwich Albion in the train to the Championship.

It is the first time in the history of the premier league that the three relegated teams will be confirmed with three games left to play.
