Niger Tornadoes Technical Adviser, Abubakar Bala is optimistic that his side will give NPFL champions, Plateau United a good run for their money in the quarterfinals of 2017 Aiteo Cup.
The draw for the quarter-finals of the 2017 Aiteo Cup was held on Thursday night live on Channels television, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Newly crowned Nigeria Professional Football League champions Plateau United will face the winners of the replayed Round of 16 ties between Niger Tornadoes and FC Abuja on Saturday in the first quarter-final match.
Osun United will play against Sunshine Stars in a South West derby in the competition’s second quarter-final fixture.
Holders FC Ifeanyi Ubah will be hosts of ABS of Ilorin while Akwa United will welcome the winners of Katsina United or Ekiti United at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina.
Bala said, “We know their capabilities and their approach to the game.
“They are a good side with a lot of fire power in their arsenal, but we will give them a good run for their money.”
Niger Tornadoes secured their quarter-final ticket after defeating FC Abuja in a replay round of 16 matches played at their temporary home Confluence stadium, Lokoja.
The sides played a goalless draw in Abuja in the first meeting.
Niger Tornadoes host Plateau United on Wednesday, while the second leg will be at the Rwang Pam Stadium, Jos on Saturday 23 September.
