Akinwunmi: I am happy with the current squad of Super Eagles

Vice President of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) Seyi Akinwunmi is impressed with the manner by which Super Eagles national team coach Gernot Rohr is going about preparations for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Uyo.

Akinwunmi has declared that Nigerians should expect a very tough Eagles squad against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa.

Speaking in a chat with Sports Radio – Brila FM in Lagos, Akinwunmi said that Coach Rohr’s decision to invite some young and untested players, including some home-based stars for the 2019 AFCON qualifier against Bafana Bafana of South Africa was a step in the right direction.

‘I am very confident with the current crop of players who are in camp as they get set to battle the Bafana Bafana team.

‘I am also happy with the number of youthful players in the squad who he says are hungry to deliver for the Eagles under coach Rohr and I know that on the 10th of June, our team are going to be ready to win the game.

Nigeria will play South Africa on Saturday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
