“What I have seen here is  a group of young players who needed time to gel . This results should not discourage them and thank my boys for this wonderful performance.”

On the importance of the victory, Maikaba said :

” It is necessary for us to fight for this results , because they are so close to us on the league table and victory means either of us can move to third position on the table . I want us to be in good position for continental position and with this results we are on course.

“At the beginning of the game, Akwa United got chances to score and determine the outcome of the game in the first half, but they missed them and that gave my boys confidence to continue pushing.”

“I told the boys to calm down and get the first goal in the game to put them under pressure.” He concluded.

Maikaba managed Akwa United in 2017 and led them to Aiteo Cup glory, before joining Plateau United from where he moved to Rangers .
