Former Nigeria international athlete and now Athletics coach Deji Aliu has charged athletes nursing a desire to represent Nigeria at the Olympics in Tokyo, Japan to make a statement with their performance at the ongoing National Sports Festival in Edo to be on the radar for consideration ahead of the summer Olympics.
Aliu speaking in a chat with brila.net urged athletes participating at the Sports Festival to rise above the challenges that may have been occasioned by the series of postponements of the Sports Festival. He added that he expects athletes to give their best.
“Been a Championship I think it will bring out the best in those athletes and I’m very sure we will see more at the festival. The postponements and everything will have its own effects but I don’t think it should affect them. Anybody that has the desire of the Olympics definitely should rise above what has been happening with the festival and really go out there and try and make a statement.”
