Coach of Nigeria’s U17 national team Fatai Amoo has stated that he is hopeful Africa soccer ruling body CAF consider the bid from Zambia with the Southern Africa nation having expressed interest officially to host the U17 AFCON as a bailout for CAF after the initial host Morocco expressed Covid-19 concerns and eventual cancellation just 5 days to the start of the competition.
Amoo speaking in a chat with brila.net said giving consideration to the bid will delight not just him but many other participating nations who must have been left disappointed with the cancellation of the tournament last week.
He added that the success of the bid if it comes will allow the players, coaches and other stakeholders to get back to work and showcase what they have prepared so hard for long ago.
“Very disposed to something you worked for and it’s time to see how the work will benefit in terms of going for the competition and that’s the only way one a be satisfied that you have done something. If that will really happen I think that it will be so good. The players, the coaches and other stakeholders wi be happy if that will materialize but everything depends on CAF. It is on the table of CAF to decide.”
