Having shown a good performance in the midfield this season, Ander Herrera won Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year after beating Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Antonio Valencia.
With Ander Herrera and Antonio Valencia separated by just 20 votes going into the final hours of voting, according to Manchester United’s official website. Herrera sneaked in to become the unlikely winner after a barnstorming season in midfield with Valencia picking up the Players’ Player of the Year award as a consolation.

‘It is very special for me to win this award because when you see the list of the winners you realise how important it is… and because I stop the record of David De Gea and because the trophy stays in Spain as well,’ Herrera said.

Possibly intimidated by the thought of living up to Louis van Gaal after the Dutchman stole the show and went viral after his Wolf of Wall Street style declamation in the 2015 ceremony, Jose Mourinho didn’t make any speech at the award ceremony.
Meanwhile, Henrikh Mkhitaryan surprised no one by picking up Goal of the Season for his famed ‘Scorpion Kick’ goal against Sunderland. The Armenian, who was in fact offside when the ball was crossed to him, somehow deflected it past Jordan Pickford with the back of his heel.

Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year, which was presented to Angel Gomes, a 16-year-old already an essential part of their Under 18 squad while Axel Tuanzebe of Manchester United was presented with the Denzil Haroun Reserve Team Player of the Year award by Nicky Butt.
