Appointing Eguavoen as Super Eagles Coach a Mistake — Ezeugo

Former Super Eagles CB Emeka Ezeugo has called for the total overhaul of Nigerian football after the team failed to qualify for the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Ezeugo, who was also known as ‘The destroyer’ during his playing days, stated that the overhauling should start from the technical committee of the Nigeria Football Federation.
He told BRL, that some ex internationals who are part of of the committee were not qualified to be.
“How could you include someone like Paul Aigbogun, Kanu Nwankwo and Jay Jay Okocha, Mutiu Adepoju and Victor Ikpeba in technical Committee?” Ezeugo queried. “What do they know about football?, yes they played at the highest level, but that’s not everything.”
The former CB also the questioned the appointment of Augustine Eguavoen as the head of the Super Eagles coaching crew.
“Then you made Austin Eguavoen the head of technical crew, are we out of mind?.”
“Our people don’t reason and that’s the problem with Nigerian football,” he told BRL.
He then confirmed that he turned down an appointment to work with the current NFF President Amaju Pinnick, because he doesn’t want to be identified as “a failure”.
