Three-time Olympian and Olympics bronze medalist Chika Chukwumerije has questioned the Ministry’s decision to go ahead with the 2020 Sports festival despite the scare of covid19.
Chukwumerije was reacting to the unanimous decision made by members of the National Council on Sports, the Country’s highest Sports decision body from their virtual extraordinary meeting where they agreed that the National Sports Festival slated for Edo should hold before the end of the year 2020.
In a chat with brila.net, the Takwwando federation Technical director seems to be against the Council’s plans as regards the Sports Festival.
“Are we going to die if the sports festival does not hold? don’t forget when you look at football they have a very robust system, even the UK and the US are struggling with testing for covid19 despite the fact that they have a more robust test system.”
The National Sports Festival, which was supposed to begin in March was postponed on orders from the Presidency.
