Alex Iwobi says Arsenal must improve defensively of the club wants to fight for the Premier League this season and has praised Manager Unai Emery for his all-inclusive approach in the team.
Arsenal last won the Premier league crown in the 2003-04 season, but the drought can come to an with a much improved defense, collectively, Iwobi suggested.
So far this season, the Gunners have scored 24 goals; third best among the top four teams in the table, but they have also shipped in more than half that number.
Emery’s defense has been a little generous, conceding 13 goals in 10 matches and have the third worst defense of the teams in the top half of the table.
Speaking ahead of the Premier League clash against Liverpool at the Emirates, Nigeria international Iwobi insists the team must defend well collectively to compliment their lethal attack if the club’s title credentials must be seen as genuine.
‘We must defend better as a team, because we know as far as our attack is concerned we can score goals. But the improvement must come from how we defend collectively, and the Manager bangs on this a lot,’ the winger said.
