Arsenal Manager, Arsene Wenger believes the club’s faithful won’t miss talisman, Alexis Sanchez like they did with ex-striker, Robin van Persie.
French tactician, Arsene Wenger feels the fans will not mourn the Chilean star’s exit like they did when Dutchman, Robin van Persie left.
Former Captain, Robin Van Persie really annoyed the Gunners’ supporters when he swapped their side for rivals, Manchester United back in 2012.
And as it currently stands, Alexis Sanchez is about to toe the same line as he is set to join United.
“I would say our fans today know that Sanchez will not extend his contract, and they have accepted that idea,” Wenger stated to reporters.
“And the fact’s that it will not be one-way traffic, it will be other-way traffic as well with Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
“So, that makes the whole thing a bit smoother maybe, a bit less disappointing.
“We lose a player, yes but we could gain another player of top level as well.
“When it was with Van Persie, it was quite similar in the fact that he had only one year remaining.
“Maybe, it was the first case where the big players decide to leave, Van Persie was one of them.
“I mean where a big player did not extend his contract and came close to the end of his contract.
“That will happen more and more because we arrive at a level where money rules the game.
“The money at stake for players who are free is so big and the transfers are so big.
“That the players think ‘it is better I go to the end of my contract,’” Wenger stated.
