Tennis superstar Aruna Quadri wins his second ITTF African title in Algeria, beating rival Omar Assar in the final on Friday night.
The highest ranked African table tennis star however had to do it a hard way, coming back from two sets down to beat the Egyptians.
Aruna, who defeated compatriot Mati Taiwo in the semi-final down the op-seed Egyptian 4-3 in the thrilling contest.
Aruna last won the tournament in 2018, with his last two ending in defeats in the hands of Assar.
“I think I gave my all and even when I was down I did not give up. I think I just stayed focused and this worked out for me and I am happy that my efforts in Algiers paid off for me,” An excited Aruna Quadri said after the game.
Meanwhile, in the women’s singles, Dina Meshref edged Yousra Helmy 4-0 to claim her third continental crown.
