Taiwo Awoniyi will get another taste of European football next season following Union Berlin’s impressive road win against Freiburg in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
Awoniyi was in action for Die Eisernen in the game and the Nigerian did not hot the target, he registered an assist as the visitors walked away with a 4-1 win at the Europa-Park Stadion.
The Nigerian had his best chance of the game in the 11th minute. Sheraldo Becker played a terrific cross to his path, but the Forward struck his effort against the post.
However goals from Grischa Prömel, Christopher Trimmel, Sheraldo Becker and Andras Schäfer made sure of the three points.
The outstanding performance from Urs Fischer’s side saw the Köpenick club seal their place in Europe with a game to spare in the Bundesliga.
However, the European competition Union Berlin will challenge for is undecided and they will find out on the final matchday of the Bundesliga season when VfL Bochum come to the Stadion An der Alten Försterei.
