Awoniyi describes life at Union Berlin after Liverpool transfer

Nigerian Forward Taiwo Awoniyi has revealed life in Union Berlin is good and admits he feels at home at the Bundesliga Club.

In an interview with Bundelisga.com, the Nigerian striker said the atmosphere around the club is good and attributed their impressive to the good relationship among the staff and Players.

“From the director to the coaches to the players, they’re really friendly guys and friendly people at Union,” Awoniyi told the Bundesliga official website.

“We stay together as a family. I think anyone who comes into this kind of atmosphere will enjoy it. We love doing what he [head coach Urs Fischer] is doing, and that was what integrated me into the team quite early.”

Taiwo Awoniyi is Union Berlin’s top scorer this season in all competitions with 15 goals, and led the team to a semi-final place in the DFB Pokal Cup.

The former Liverpool man, who is the Club’s most expensive player signing praised the German tactician for helping him settle in the squad.

“For a coach to take you in, sit you down, tell you what he wants, what he expects of you and joke with you, to work with you, this is what a parent does to their children. Everything he has done is what my father also did to me.”

Union Berlin are currently seventh on the log, one point behind sixth-place Koln and will be banking on the Nigerian to pick a European ticket, starting with a visit to fourth-place Freiburg in a German Bundesliga game on Saturday.
