Awoniyi equals Nottingham Forest’s 27-year old record

Taiwo Awoniyi ended his debut Premier League season with yet another goal for Nottingham Forest.

Awoniyi was on target as Nottingham Forest wrapped up their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday.

The forward scored on the 31st minute, to make it six goals in his last four Premier League game for the Steve Cooper’s side.

He also becomes the first Nottingham Forest player to score 10+ Premier League goals since 1994/95, joining Stan Collymore, Nigel Clough and Bryan Roy as only Leicester City player to do so.

He has put Nottingham Forest in front eight times in just concluded season.

The last player to open the scoring more times in a single season for a newly promoted club was Andrew Johnson with Crystal Palace in 2004-05 (9).

The 26-year-old Nigerian, who joined from Union Berlin, helped Nottingham Forest to finish their first PL season in 16th after 23 years.
