Awoniyi on target as Vfb Stuttgart pegged back Union Berlin

Nigerian forward Taiwo Awoniyi was on target for Union Berlin in Tuesday’s German Bundesliga match against Vfb Stuttgart.

Awoniyi, who is on loan from Liverpool, has now scored three in goals in his last five league outings for Union Berlin.

Marvin Friedrich converted Christopher Trimmel’s pass to put Union Berlin in front, four minutes into the match.

Awoniyi added the second goal for the away team in the 70th minute, thanks  to assist from Christopher Lenz.

Union Berlin, however, took their foot off the gas and allowed two points to slip from their hands with just five minute left to play as Sasa Kalajdzic scored twice to snatch a point for Stuttgart.

Philipp Klement set Sasa Kalajdzic up to reduce the deficit in the 85th minute, before he completed the brace with last kick of the game.

The draw was another blow for Union Berlin as they have now dropped four points from winning position in their last two matches.
