Awoniyi scores in Nottingham Forest win over Liverpool

Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi finally got one over his former club Liverpool on their first meeting since quitting the club last year.

Awoniyi scored the winner for his new side Nottingham Forest at the City Ground Stadium to pile more pressure against the Jugen Klopp’s Liverpool.

Recalled Awoniyi spent six of his career as Liverpool’s player, but never make single appearance for the Reds, instead spending the whole period on loan.

He never had the opportunity fulfilled Premier League dream until he was sold to Union Berlin for €7.5m from where he joined Nottingham Forest.

He has scored just two goals for Forest before meeting Liverpool today, and the striker made his former employers paid as he grabbed the only goal of the game in the 52nd minute.

His goal earns Steve Cooper’s side competed throughout to earn their first win since August.
