Awoniyi set for club record transfer to Nottingham Forest

English Premier League side Nottingham Forest is on the verge of signing Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi from Union Berlin.

Should the deal go through, Taiwo will become a record signing for the newly-promoted club in their history.

Awoniyi, a former Liverpool forward scored 15 goals to help Union Berlin qualify for the Europa League last season.

RB Leipzig showed interest in the player, but he is keen to play in Premier League, and Forest has agreed to meet his £17.5million asking price.

Awoniyi, 24, joined Liverpool in 2015 and had loan spells at six different clubs without making a single appearance for the Club.

He then joined Union for nearly £6m— a club-record fee last summer and Liverpool is entitled to a percentage of his transfer to Forest.
