Taiwo Awoniyi is now set to undergo Nottingham Forest medical ahead of a club-record £17.5m switch from Union Berlin.
The Nigerian forward reportedly arrived in the United Kingdom on Thursday ahead of the deal.
The agreement has been reached and he could have his medical in the next few hours and then an announcement could follow.
Meanwhile, Liverpool will receive £1.75m due to the 10% sell-on clause negotiated by Michael Edwards.
Awoniyi signed for Union Berlin from Liverpool last summer, after six years without making a single appearance.
The £17.5m fee means the Nigeria international would join an exclusive list of players as a club-record purchase for Nottingham Forest. This is who he could rank alongside if he completes his move to the City Ground.
