Azubuike Okechukwu reveals stance on club future

Super Eagles midfielder Azubuike Okechukwu looks forward to start the next campaign with his parent Club İstanbul Başakşehir.

The former U-23 Captain signed for Yeni Malatyaspor on loan back in January, after ending his spell with Sivasspor.

Azubuike has now rediscovered his form and featured in almost every game for the Yeni Malatyaspor in the second half of the season.

His good performance for Yeni Malatyaspor however caught the attention of other teams, and recall the Super Eagles squad for the clash against Mexico and Ecuador.

Speaking on his future, the midfielder said he is only thinking of returning to his parent club next season.

“I will be going back to Basaksehir definitely, He said in a chat with www.brila.net

“I didn’t start the season with them, I had a rough start. I was injured and had to go on loan to Sivasspor, where I played a few games and did well, but I wanted to play every game because I always wanted to go back to Basaksehir, so I had to go to Yeni Malatyaspor.”

“I had a good chat with the President and coach at that time. That was in January, they were battling relegation and the coach wanted me and then I started my career in Europe with Yeni Malatyaspor, so it’s normal to go back. I know the city and I played the ball game with them. But I want to go back to İstanbul Başakşehir.” He said.

The 25-year-old played 14 games for Yeni Malatyaspor and assisted a goal.
