Barcelona came from two goals down to defeat arch-rivals Real Madrid 4-3 in a pulsating El Clásico, Sunday, at the Montjuïc Olympic Stadium.

Mbappé’s Record-Breaking Hat-Trick Not Enough

Kylian Mbappé starred for Real Madrid, netting a hat-trick and breaking Ivan Zamorano’s record for the most goals in a debut season at the club.

His tally now stands at 39 goals in all competitions, surpassing Zamorano’s 37 in 1992–93.

Mbappé opened the scoring from the spot in the 5th minute

Doubled the lead with a swift finish in the 14th

Completed his treble in the 70th minute to pull Madrid back to 4-3

Despite his heroics, Real Madrid were undone by defensive lapses and a spirited Barcelona response.

Barcelona’s Swift Response Turns the Tide

Following Mbappé’s early double, Eric Garcia, Lamine Yamal, and Raphinha turned the game around in a frantic 15-minute spell.

Garcia pulled one back in the 19th minute

Yamal equalized on 23 minutes

Raphinha gave Barça the lead in the 30th minute

The Brazilian winger added his second just before halftime after a blunder by Lucas Vázquez, giving Barcelona a 4-2 lead at the break.

Title Within Reach for Barcelona

With the victory, Barcelona now lead LaLiga by seven points over second-placed Real Madrid with three matches remaining.

One more win will mathematically secure the 2024–25 league title for Xavi’s men.

The loss leaves Madrid on the brink of a trophyless domestic season, despite Mbappé’s remarkable individual campaign.

They have won the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Intercontinental Cup, but fell short in:

Supercopa de España (lost to Barça)

Copa del Rey final (lost 3-2)

UEFA Champions League (quarterfinal exit)
