Former captain of the Men’s senior Basketball team, Olumide Oyedeji and FIBA Africa Zone 3 President President, Sam Ahmedu have both disagreed on the significance of Nigeria’s performance at the XXI Commonwealth Games where D’Tigers crashed out without winning a game.
Nigeria lost all three Pool A games including the qualifying-final against Scotland, where a victory could have seen the team have a real shot at a podium place.
But while Ahmedu believes the outcome was not entirely bad from an experimental team, Oyedeji painted a gloomy picture for the team in the future.
Oyedeji told Brila.net that the team didn’t reflect the quality of players Nigeria can offer and that the result is poor considering that half of the team still are still foreign based players.
