Banyana Banyana midfielder Linda Motlhalo provides an insight on how they overcame Nigeria’s Super Falcons at the ongoing AWCON on Monday.
After a goalless first 45 minutes, South Africa came out of their shell in the second half to send out a strong signal of intent at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations finals as they beat defending champions Nigeria 2-1.
Linda Motlhalo was at the heart of the brave Banyana’s performance and was named as the woman of the match.
In a chat with the press, Linda Motlhalo spoke about their game plans and how they caged the Nigerians.
“The first half was a bit difficult and very slow, but as soon as we got the momentum we carried on and we were able to get two goals in the second half.”
“We never allowed them to get close to our final third and I think we really did well as a team.” She said.
Linda Motlhalo is expected to be in action again, when the Desiree Elis side take on Burundi in their second Group game on Thursday.
