Officials of Nigeria’s National team have confirmed to Brila.net that midfielder Alex Iwobi has tested positive for COVID-19.
Iwobi, who is with the Super Eagles in Benin Republic for the AFCON 2021 Qualifiers, has been left out of the matchday squad.

Brila.net gathered that the mandatory matchday COVID-19 test results had been made available to the Coaches well ahead of the game on Saturday.

Iwobi, 24, has played 44 times for Nigeria since his debut in 2015. He could also miss out of Nigeria’s final AFCON qualifying match against Lesotho.
The midfielder, who plays his club football for English Premier League side Everton is already in isolation.
Benin Republic and Nigeria are scheduled to play in a second-leg Group L tie, 5pm local time in Porto-Novo.
