Enyimba of Aba left back Benjamin Francis believes the Club will return to winning ways and finished the season on high despite failing to record a game since the opening day of the season.
The People’s Elephant defeated MFM 2-0 in the opening day of the season but had failed to record a win since then with defeats away to Kwara United and Rangers International and home draw with Lobi Stars leaving them seventh in group A with four points from four games.
Speaking on the team’s recent blip , Francis said the performance has not been good enough but he’s optimistic everything will work well for the former Nigerian champions soon.
“Picking just four points from four matches is not good for us. I understand the frustration of the fans because they always want us to win. We (the players) also want to win because that’s what we came here to do.
Every time we step on the pitch the only thing we want to do is play well and win, so I want the fans to be patient with us and continue to believe because the results will start coming soon.“
The 25 year old defender added that the team has been playing well but needs luck on their side to crown their efforts.
“We also need luck on our side because we’ve been playing well, even in the games we failed to win. We’ve been creating the chance but we just haven’t been able to score. I think we need a bit of luck on our side.”
“We are already looking at how to make things work and we have to start from the training ground. We keep talking to ourselves about what we can do to get better. Everybody is working hard in training and that’s the attitude that we need right now.”
Enyimba will welcome Rivers United to Aba this Sunday with a win needed to help the Club regain their lost confidence.
