Black Stars legend differs on Black Stars squad to face Super Eagles

Former Bayern Munich defender Samuel Osei Kuffour believes the technical crew picked the best players for the clash against Nigeria.

Kuffor’s former teammate Asamoah Gyan questioned the omission of Majeed Ashimeru from the squad, after it was announced.

The Ghana’s all time top scorer insisted the Anderlecht midfielder remain Ghana’s best midfielder after Thomas Partey at the moment and described his snub as nonsense.

Reacting to Gyan’s take, Kuffor who is a member of Black Stars management committee member, said Gyan went too far branding the squad as nonsense and insisted the best squad was picked.

“He [Gyan] has his personal view on certain players as a human being but put that aside and go to the coaches, they have monitored every player,” Kuffour, currently a management committee member of the Black Stars, told Kessben FM.

“How many matches has Ashimeru played and not been invited?

“Asamoah Gyan is part of Ghana, he has captained this team so my little advice is that when things like this happen, you can call one or two people. But when you put it on your page and using the word ‘nonsense’ I don’t think it’s fair.

“You can go on and say what you want to say but certain words are not appropriate to use.” he said.

The Black Stars will take on Super Eagles for a place in Qatar 2022 on Friday and Tuesday respectively.
