An incident packed first-half in El Clasico on Sunday night saw goals, cards and a gruesome facial injury suffered by Lionel Messi.
Whilst challenging Marcelo for an aerial ball the Brazilian’s elbow connected with Messi’s face leaving him with a bloody mouth and in some discomfort on the hallowed turf of the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

Blood poured from his mouth and onto the grass as he lay prone for several seconds before eventually being treated by Los Cules’ medical department.
He quickly returned to the action but was forced to play for the rest of the half with gauze in his mouth to help stop the bleeding.
