Boboye Blames Super Eagles CHAN 2020 Ouster On Bad Officiating

Super Eagles Team B assistant coach Kennedy Boboye says the team failed to qualify for 2020 CHAN because of the bad first leg result recorded in Togo.

The Eagles suffered a 4-1 defeat in the hand of Togolesse Hawks in the first leg of 2020 African Nations Championship qualification in Lome three weeks ago, before recording 2-0 win in the second leg at the Agege Township Stadium in Lagos on Saturday.

Nigeria however missed out of trip to the tournament, as Togo picked their ticket for the tournament for the first time in their history, following the 3-4 agreegate win.

While reflecting on the result, assistant coach Kennedy Boboye said he’s very disappointed the team failed in their objectives, before claiming it was bad officiating that helped the Togolesse to their comprehensive first leg win.

The former Plateau United boss added that the team gave their all , but it was unfortunate that they couldn’t pick the ticket, before assuring Nigerians that team will make the country proud in the future.

“I’m very disappointed because the game we played was not reflected in the score line,”

“Since our debut in the African Nations Championship, we have not missed out of the competition but it is very unfortunate that this happened during our time as we couldn’t get to the promise land.

“We lost the ticket in Lome because of the number of goals we conceded and the assistance they got from the match officials.

“We appeal to all Nigerians to forgive us for losing to Togo but on a positive note, I think the technical crew has been able to gather the best legs in the league – and I believe they can take the future by storm.

“Despite the league still on break – which really affected us, we’ve shown that we have quality and we are a great team.

“These boys are young, hungry and with proper management, they will take the Super Eagles to places in future.” Boboye said.
