Boboye defends players poor showing against Nasarawa United

Coach Kennedy Boboye wasn’t pleased with Akwa United’s defeated to Nasarawa United, but refused to criticise his players.

Akwa United tasted defeat for the first time this season, after picking two wins and a draw from opening four matches.

With the defeat, The Promise Keepers dropped to 4th position on the table — two points behind early leaders Remo Stars and Rivers United.

“More respect to Nasarawa United. They came out stronger in the second half and needed the victory and they got it“, Boboye said in his post match chat with the media.

“Players I substituted weren’t giving us what we needed, probably because some of them had problems, but unfortunately, we conceded those careless goals.

On the overall performance, Boboye said, it was a bad day in office, but expects the boys to bounce back from the defeat.

“It’s a bad day for us, more so that these are players who have been giving us results, but they are humans and mistakes are bound to happen.

“We will return and continue our work ahead of subsequent games.”He said.
