Brendan Rodgers slams referee over Ndidi’s red card incident

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has criticized the decision of the referee to issue a red card to Wilfred Ndidi in their Europa League game against Napoli.

Ndidi was shown two yellow cards before being sent off in the added time of the game at the King Power Stadium.

Ndidi who was adjudged to have pulled back Adam Ounas to deny a counter-attack will now miss the next game against Legia Warsaw.

Reacting to the decision to book the player twice, Rogers said the referee made a mess of the situation and claimed Ndidi was unlucky to be at the end of it.

“We are disappointed to lose the goals but there is still a lot for us to be happy about and lots for us to analyze where we can do better.

“It was a really exciting game for the neutral, I was really pleased with the team in terms of the mentality, the goals, and the resilience for a lot of the game.

“I didn’t think the referee was very good all night and Wilf was unfortunate, he picked up the booking early on and was fighting to get across to stop the attacker from getting away. It was a little bit harsh.” He said.

The game ended in a 2-2 draw with Leicester City throwing away a two-goal lead.
