‘Brian Idowu, Ola Aina stand no where near Echiejile’ – Babafemi Raji

The March International friendly has come and gone, but a lot of mixed reactions have been coming up after the Super Eagles’ games against Poland and Serbia.

Seasoned Journalist, and Brila FM Sports analyst, Babafemi Raji has opined that The two friendly games played has given room for better assessment but says some players will not be part of this journey anymore.

Raji who was in London to watch the Super Eagles play against Serbia said Joel Obi is one of them. We also have to rethink Ighalo as the arrowhead.

Ighalo for me showed signs of fitness issues and seems disconnected with the pace of the game sometimes. Yes, he is skilful, but Rohr may have to consider other tactical options in the attack. The midfield has only 2 sure men, Ndidi & Mikel.

Apologies, but Vice Captain Onazi is not world cup standard. Positional discipline is below average, passing accuracy is below average, tackles below average, his attempts to be everywhere on the pitch is a big tactical minus to the entire team.

I am of the opinion that we have the team set up from the midfield this way: Ndidi, Mikel and Iwobi in the middle while Musa and Moses operate in the attack from wide positions.

Like I said earlier, Ighalo might not fit in, he will be caged by experienced defenders. We can let Iheanacho be a false 9.

I have no fears about the defence but there’s a huge danger arising from poor team chemistry when we have the wrong center back pairing. No contest, it is Leon and Troost but we have to pray they stay fit all through. While Leon pairs well with another, Troost doesn’t.

The Super Eagles goalkeeping role would surely go to Uzoho. He is talented, has good reflexes, communicates well with his defense line and has a commanding presence. I don’t want to delve into the age controversy, this is the world cup…

For the fullbacks…Brian Idowu and Ola Aina stand nowhere near Elderson. Elderson is more experienced, calculative and composed.

There’s too much exuberance in Brian Idowu and Aina’s games…Elderson may have lost some pace, but the team would need his experience at the world cup.

Shehu Abdullahi has gathered enough experience and should man the right back position, Tyronne will be good, not just yet.

The Super eagles’ team, however, is filled with a very talented set but sadly, the team still has no distinct rhythm…the play rhythm is akin to an individual with mood swings.
