Brume and Usoro advance to Women’s long jump final

Nigeria will be represented in the Women’s Long jump final at the ongoing World Athletics Championships in Oregon, United States.

The duo of Ese Brume and Ruth Usoro, advanced to the final of the event after impressive leaps.

Usoro didn’t start the event brightly and needed a big leap on her final attempt to advance to the final of women’s Long Jump.

Usoro however jumped 6.69m (+4.7) and qualified for the final, joining Ese Brume who also rose above a poor start to make the final.

Brume was close to elimination from the event and was in 13th place overall with one attempt left, but she jumped a distance of 6.82m to hit the automatic mark.

For the first time since the inaugural edition of the World Athletics Championships, Nigeria will have two representatives in the final of the Women’s Long Jump event.
