Super Eagles left-back, Bruno Onyemaechi is now a Greek champion after helping Olympiacos secure the Super League title with a 1-0 victory over AEK Athens in a Championship play-off clash.
The 26 year-old Nigerian defender played the full 90 minutes, his sixth league appearance since joining Olympiacos in January and delivered a solid performance at the back to help his side claim their 48th domestic crown.
Onyemaechi impressed with a commanding display in defence, registering three clearances, three headed clearances, two interceptions, and five ball recoveries.
His effort was crucial in keeping AEK Athens at bay as Olympiacos edged closer to a historic season.
The decisive moment came in the 55th minute when Morocco international Ayoub El Kaabi found the back of the net, sealing a win that not only delivered the league title but also underlined Olympiacos’ dominance this campaign.
With three matches remaining in the Championship play-offs, Olympiacos sit comfortably at the top with 66 points, 10 points clear of second-placed Panathinaikos making it mathematically impossible for any team to catch them.
This triumph marks Olympiacos’ first Greek Super League title since the 2021–22 season and adds to a remarkable run as the club also lifted the UEFA Europa Conference League title earlier in the season.
The club is now eyeing a domestic double, with the Greek Cup final against OFI scheduled for May 17.
Onyemaechi joined Olympiacos from Portuguese side Boavista in January on a permanent deal and has quickly become a trusted figure under manager José Luis Mendilibar.
Though he arrived mid-season, the Nigerian international has shown promise and consistency in his limited appearances.
As Olympiacos celebrates its 100th anniversary, Onyemaechi’s contributions have added a valuable chapter to a historic year for the Greek giants.
For Onyemaechi, this title win is a major career milestone and could serve as a launchpad for greater recognition at international level.
With the Unity Cup approaching in May, the left-back will now be hoping to earn a call-up and represent Nigeria once again.
