CAF Agrees on Sweeping changes… AFCON Postponed, CAF CL format change

The 2023 African Cup of Nations has been postponed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The tournament was initially slated for June – July 2023 in Cote D’Ivoire, but it will now hold in January and February 2024, this is Egyptian sports website Kingfut.

The Egyptian media outfit reported that CAF Executive Committee agreed to move the tournament forward during a meeting in Rabat, Morocco this Sunday.

It is understood that the Executive Committee Members took the decision due to weather concerns and to allow Cote d’Ivoire prepare adequately.

Also, at the meeting the Executive agreed that CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup finals were reverted to home and away format.

The maiden edition of the newly formed African Super League is also expected kickoff in August 2023 with the winner to get $10 million.
