CAF boots Sao Tome out, hands Mauritius AFCON Qualifiers spot against Nigeria

Nigeria will now play Mauritius in their second match of the AFCON 2023 qualifiers following the disqualification of Sao Tome and Principe.

Mauritius took the spot of Sao Tome after the CAF Disciplinary Committee verdict ruling in their favor that the latter had fielded an ineligible player during a preliminary qualifying round match.

So, though they had failed to reach the final qualifying round, Les Dodos will join team’s in Group A – Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Guinea Bissau – and battle for a place at next Year’s AFCON.

Nigeria will play Sierra Leone in Abuja on Thursday 9th June and then play Mauritius on Monday 13th.
