Enyimba suffered a 2-1 defeat to Orlando Pirates in their second group A game of the CAF Confederation Cup on Wednesday.
Fatai Osho’s side were few minutes away from picking a valuable point on the road before the South Africans snatched the winner late in the game.
The Buccaneers took the lead in the 27th minute through Namibian forward Deon Kavendji, who scored with a back heel from close range.
Enyimba levelled the scores from the penalty spot on the stroke of half-time after Mpontshane brought down Anayo Iwuala in the box, and captain Austine Oladapo stepped up to score.
Josef Zinnbauer’s Pirates had a to regain the lead after they were awarded penalty, but Tshegofatso Mabasa blazed the spot-kick over the cross bar.
Mabasa made amends for his penalty miss by scoring the winner with a header in the 89th minute.
The victory sends Pirates to the top of the table with four points, while Enyimba and Ahli Benghazi remain second and third respectively with three points each.
ES Setif occupies the bottom of the table with a points from possible six.
