Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey has decided to sign for Ajax, according to The Athletic.
The Nigerian had offers from Southampton, West Ham, Aston Villa, RB Leipzig, and Brighton, but chose the Dutch Champions, due to Champions League football.
Rangers will pocket over £20 million from the deal and a 10 percent sell-on clause was also included in the deal.
The transfer fee saw the Gers make a massive profit on the player who was signed for just £230,000 two years ago from Leicester City.
Also, it will be the most Ajax has ever spent on a defender and will comfortably break the £16.5million fee Rangers received for Nathan Patterson in January.
Bassey is expected to have his medical once the deal has been concluded and an official announcement will be made.
His imminent departure means all three Nigerians on the book of Rangers last season have now exited the club. Joe Aribo signed for Southampton, while Leon Balogun was released at the end of his contract.
Meanwhile, Van Bronckhorst is expected to reinvest the funds gotten from Bassey’s sale back to the squad, despite signing five new players already.
