Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr says his boys are motivated and are happy to reunite again after almost three months.
Rohr will lead his wards out for the first time since guiding Nigeria to the next African Cup of Nations in Cameroon with victories against Squirrels of Benin Republic and Crocodiles of Lesotho back in March.
The Friday encounter at the Stadion Weiner Neustadt, Vienna is the first of the two meetings between Nigeria and Cameroon with the second game scheduled for Tuesday.
The Super Eagles have dominated the Indomitable Lions in recent meetings and another victory will extend their record to four wins in the last seven outings.
Speaking ahead of the game, the Franco-German tactician said the boys are happy to back together again and are ready to do the country proud when they take to the field this evening.
“The players are motivated, they want to do well, they did good training sessions and are happy to come together again. The last time was at the end of March when we had the two victories against Benin and Lesotho.”
Rohr also opined that the games are his team’s last preparation for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers which will kick off in September.
“Now in June we have the last preparation and at the end of June the draw for the AFCON and then in September, October and November, we’ll have the world cup qualifiers so this is the last preparation game for the World Cup; it’s very very important.”
“All the players who are here want to do well and to show their best so they can be in the 23-man team for the World Cup.” He concluded.
