Cameroon goalkeeper insists Akwa United can rescue their season

Akwa United’s goalkeeper Jean Efala believes their season isn’t over and can’t still savage the situation.

Retaining the league they won last season is becoming difficult following a dismal title defense which left them 6th on the table after 18 games .

The Promise Keepers also lost their 31 home games unbeaten record after losing  0-3 to visiting Rangers International FC of Enugu last Sunday.

With trip to table toppers Rivers United next in the line, Akwa United needs nothing but victory to keep themselves in hunt for a CAF tickets.

Akwa United was defeated 3-0 over the weekend by the coal city Antelope which left the team on the 6th position with 27 points.

Efala who helped Cameroon to a third place finish at the 2021 African Cup of Nations is optimistic they’ll bounce back .

“I do not have much to say than to apologise to my fans because i know they are devasted right now but we as a team will put back the smile on their faces hopefully this weekend against Rivers United by the special grace of God.

“Our continental dream is still important to us and with their support we will achieve it by the end of the season.” The Camerooninan said.
