Former Super Eagles midfielder Austin Jay-Jay Okocha has reacted to Cameroon’s defeat to Switzerland in Group G encounter of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 on Thursday.
The former African champions lost to the Swiss 1-0, courtesy of goal from Cameroon born Breel Embolo in the second half.
Manuel Akanji, missed a golden opportunity to double Switzerland’s lead, and while reviewing the game, but Okocha believe the Rigobert Song’s side gave Switzerland freedom to do what they wanted, adding that they were lucky not to have lost by more goals.
“The best chance of the game and it could have been the worst time to concede, “The former Super Eagles Captain said on SuperSport.
“I think the manager couldn’t believe how free Akanji was and it was more difficult to miss that (headed chance) than hit the target and the Cameroonians were lucky not to have have conceded there.”
