Middlesbrough manager, Michael Carrick is confident the club will hd.on to top scorer Chuba Akpom.
Akpom is reportedly wanted by Premier League sides and Bundelisga sides in this January, following his outstanding form.
The Nigerian-born forward is the leading scorer in the Championship this season with 13 goals in 19 league appearances for Boro this season.
Akpom is in the final six months of his contract but Middleborough can extend thee contract by twelve, according to the clause inserted in the contract he signed two-year ago.
Carrick however stated the club will do everything possible to keep their star striker.
“He’s our player. We’re delighted to have Chuba. He’s been terrific since I came through the door, “Carrick was quoted by Teesside Live.
“He’s obviously got his headlines with the goals but he’s given us a lot more than that. He’s a player we’re delighted to have. He has 18 months left on his contract.”
Akpom will be in action when Boro tackles Brighton in the English FA Cup this weekend.
