Like a masterpiece sealed away inside a box, the quality of Nigeria’s women premier league will not be fully appreciated until it gets the right funding to match the ambitions of teams, so says 2018 championship winning coach Moses Aduku.
The Bayelsa Queens gaffer insists the one factor that could solely affect the quality of women’s football in Nigeria is proper funding, through sponsorship.
‘ The key to improving the league is in sponsorship. It’ll change a lot of things and for starters, Clubs will focus more on building the game; unlike now where they’re going about to raise money to execute single league matches,’ Aduku told brila.net.
‘To prosecute an away game requires serious funds including payment of bonuses, players hotel bills, and Referees’ indemnities.
‘ So, I’m certain if there was the right kind of sponsorship, it will take some of this burden off the shoulders of teams and we can all enjoy great football.’
