The home-based Super Eagles have resumed the second phase of their training camp in Abuja as they gear up for the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers, against Ghana’s Black Galaxies.

Currently, 26 players have reported to camp for the second week of intensive preparations.

The Nigeria Football Federation confirmed that the Home-Based Eagles are undergoing rigorous training to prepare for the crucial two-legged qualification matches scheduled for December.

Despite the strong turnout, nine players are still expected to join the camp as the coaching staff intensifies their preparations.

Assistant coaches Daniel Ogunmodede and Fidelis Ilechukwu are overseeing the training sessions in the absence of head coach Augustine Eguavoen, who is currently out of the country for medical reasons.

The camping exercise began last week, with players returning to their clubs over the weekends for league fixtures.

This second phase will continue to build the team’s readiness and cohesion ahead of the first leg of the qualifier on December 20, followed by the return leg on December 27.

The upcoming matches offer Nigeria a chance to avenge their 2022 defeat, when Ghana edged them out on penalties to secure a spot in the last CHAN tournament.

This time, the CHAN Eagles are focused on securing a place in the 2025 championship, set to be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
