Ahead of next month’s qualifiers for the African Nations Championships against Ghana, the Super Eagles CHAN team have commenced preparations.

25 players trained in two sessions during the camping exercise in Abuja and overseen by Austin Eguavoen and his assistants.

Speaking at the end of Thursday’s training, Eguavoen gave updates on the team’s progress and his process.

“We’ve been to a lot of league matches and our assistant Coaches; Fidelis Ilechukwu and Daniel Ogunmodede, saw a lot of players.

“I also got help from Coaches whose games we’ve not been able to watch live, but we’re all on the same page.”

Eguavoen praised the players’ technical qualities, but expects more work over the next sessions.

“We’ve only had two sessions, and the players have been very impressive. They’re technically good, but we still have a lot of work because they’re coming from different clubs.

“The task at hand is to get them to play as a team, and there’s enough time too.”

“We worked with 25 players, but the objective is to select the best team for the qualifiers against Ghana in December – we know how tough it is to play against Ghana.”
