Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has emphasized the importance of securing a vital victory
against Rwanda on Friday.
In his pre-match press conference on Thursday, Chelle said “They (Rwanda) also have a
new coach, they need to win and we need to win too. They(Super Eagles) are training hard and
they want Nigerians to be proud of them.”
“We have had meetings and training sessions. I have communicated my plans, and how we
intend to achieve success,” he added.
Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong, also gave his thoughts about the team under the new Coach and the game in Kigali.
“It is a work in progress and hopefully it will be a continuous growth, but this first game
will be a test straight away. I have full confidence in the team and the team has confidence in the
coach and vice versa.
“Rwanda are ahead in the World Cup qualifications. We cannot change the past, but we have a chance to
do better tomorrow (Friday),” he added.
Nigeria currently sits 5th position with 3 points in 4 games. Chelle will look forward to
securing the Eagles’ first win of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.
The Super Eagles will continue their campaign in a match against Zimbabwe at the Godswill
Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, subsequent to their clash with Rwanda on Friday.
